The monthly Main Event at Fox Poker Club attracted 146 of the UK’s poker players to the poker venue in the heart of London to play the £300 entry two day tournament. The prizepool was guaranteed at £25,000 but reached a whopping £43,800. Jen-Yue Chiang was the eventual winner taking home over £10,000 and the title. The 36 year old American based in London came close to being crowned champion previously making five final tables in this event but never reaching the top spot before today.
Jen-Yue emerged as champion after being tournament shortstack on the money bubble. He asserted his control on the final table by eliminating many of the players including Frederick Gautrin of France in 9th place, Adolf Ventel in 8th place and Kenny Halaert of Belgium in 7th place.
He gained a strong position on the final thanks to a set-over-set on the flop against Krzysztof Jaromin. Chiang’s name was etched on the trophy when he made a straight against eventual runner up George Achillea on the river card to win a pot of over 2 million chips. Jen won the final hand holding pocket Jacks after the shortstacked Achillea had bet All-In with King-high.

The rumour is that Her Majesty the Queen has expressed a wish to play and the previous date clashed with her Diamond Jubilee Celebrations. We are happy to move the event to accomodate her.

Jen-Yue Chiang and George Achillea pass the blinds about heads up for 4 or 5 hands before the decider comes. George button pushes his stack with King-High and Jen wakes up with a hand.

to seal the deal.
George Achillea is our runner up and wins £7,500 for his troubles.
George’s £7,500 could buy him into a lot of Fox Poker Club Tournaments. This Spring the Fox has £200,000 in Guaranteed Prizepools. George Achillea has been crippled after a losing a coinflip against Jen-Yue Chang. With the blinds at 20,000 – 40,000 Jen opened raising to 95,000 with
. George thought for quite a while but we suspect that this was for effect as the Streaming table shows us he is holding
.
As soon as George announces All-In Jen has called and it’s off to the races.
The flop
leaves Jen in front with his Jacks
The turn
and George rockets into the lead with a pair of Kings
But the river is a killer
completing a straight for Jen-Yue.
George is crippled down to about 220,000. He must be glad they made the deal now which means there is no difference between a 3rd place finish and 2nd.
After about three levels of three handed play the stacks are about even with each player holding just over a million in chips. A deal is struck. Each player will bank £7,500 with the balance to the winner. This leaves the new payouts as…
1st £10,160
2nd £7,500
3rd £7,500
Romano Pizzo could only go so far he got it All-In agains Krzysztof Jaromin and the rail and other players said it was looking like a chop after the flop fell.

Pre-flop Romano had gone for the anti-luck by saying, “Give him the nine – I wanna go home!”
The Turn
seemed to confirm that this was destined to be a split pot
The River
had something different to say. Romano is our 4th place finisher and collects £4,050 and the award for the most entertaining player of the tournament. We hope to see him back. He mentioned that he will be playing the Palm Beach Big Game tomorrow so we wish him luck!
The Palm Beach Big Game runs the first Monday of Every Month at 7pm and is the best regular high stakes tournament in London. A £1000+£80 One Day Tournament it now has an improved structure: 15,000 chips and a 30 minute clock with added levels!

When the
fell on the river we think that Neil has got there with the straight but Jen points out that he has the house. Neil get just over three bags for his troubles, he certainly didn’t have much luck on this final table.
The Next Main Event has been moved to June 9th from it’s original date of June 2nd by special royal decree. Appparently Her Majesty was hoping to play and it previously clashed with her Diamond Jubilee Celebrations
